Gratuitously coiffed marijuana connoisseur and two-time Cy Young award winner Tim Lincecum has reportedly agreed to a two-year deal with the San Francisco Giants worth $40.5 million, thus validating the hopes and dreams of little league Mitch Kramers everywhere. Although the San Francisco Giants managed to hold on to slugger Pat Burrell for an extra year in the wake of the 2010 World Series, the occasional kinkster's injury-laden 2011 season seems to have crippled the future of his baseball career. Because we can never not blog a Brian Wilson fashion statement, here's a shot of the bearded one's footwear spotted in the dugout Friday at Coors Field. The shoes, in case you missed all the hype, are Nike Air MAGs. Children of the 80s and Robert Zemeckis fans might recognize them as strikingly similar to the shoes Marty McFly picked up on a trip to 2015 in Back to the Future: Part II. Although Nike hasn't quite perfected the self-lacing technology from the movie, they do light up with LEDs - making them only slightly more awesome than the bright orange numbers that famously netted Wilson a hefty fine for wearing on the field. more ›

South Bay baseball columnist Mark Purdy reports the news from the Giants front office: "The Giants confirmed Wednesday night what [the San Jose Mercury News] had reported earlier in the day -- that Bill Neukom, the Giants' managing general partner and chief executive officer, will not return in that role for the 2012 season." Larry Baer, the Giants' President and COO will take over Neukom's role starting in 2012, with Neukom himself transitioning from his current role as CEO to Chairman Emeritus starting on January 1st, 2012. more ›

The Giants released their tentative schedule for the 2012 baseball season this morning and while we don't want to jinx the tiny spark of hope this current series against the Padres has given us, next season already has something to look forward to. The diehard team travelers will want to go ahead and start booking flights to Arizona for the team's opening day game against the Diamondbacks on Friday, April 6th. In case you missed it: In last night's game against the Phillies, Giants Pitcher Ramon Ramirez sent a fastball high and inside where it landed squarely in the back of Philadelphia's Shane Victorino. Of course, the boys from Philly don't take kindly to that sort of shenanigans and quickly cleared the bench for a sixth inning dustup. As far as baseball fights go, this awkward mass of uniforms is pretty good, especially when everyone stands around kind of poking each other while Victorino strolls around fuming. In the ongoing Bryan Stow story, new details about LAPD's two suspects Louie Sanchez and Marvin Norwood have emerged: According to documents released by the LA County DA's office, Sanchez allegedly took part in at least four other assaults on opening day in Chavez Ravine before initiating the violent attack on Bryan Stow and a group of his friends in a parking lot after the game. Meanwhile, in a bizarre twist: Matthew Lee - a friend of Stow's who witnessed the attack firsthand - has died of a food allergy. more ›

After a careless man lost his Hyundai full of Willie McCovey-signed baseball gear outside of a Walnut Creek McDonald's on Monday, authorities in the East Bay tracked down and arrested the caught-on-camera thief yesterday. The suspect, a 33-year-old homeless man, was picked up by Walnut Creek PD at a Motel 6 on Main Street after tipsters recognized him from the fast food restaurant's security footage. more ›

On Monday morning, a man driving a silver Hyundai carrying a cargo of baseball bats and balls signed by San Francisco Giants legend Willie McCovey left the keys in the ignition while he ran in to a Walnut Creek McDonald's restaurant to satisfy his Egg McMuffin fix. The man was only in the California Boulevard franchise location for three minutes (which: good turnaround, Walnut Creek Mickey D's) before he came back outside to see his Hyundai speeding off on to Cypress Street.
