Muni Bus Strikes Yellow Cab In SoMa

By Andrew Dalton on Jan 26, 2012

San Francisco's most loved/hated forms of public transportation literally collided this morning when an 8X-Bayshore Express sideswiped a Yellow Cab, sending it spinning in to a fire hydrant near the Hall of Justice in SoMa. According to Bay City News reporter Dan McMenamin, reporting from the scene, the crash happened just after 10 a.m. this morning when the taxi cab exited Highway 80 and cut off the Muni bus while trying to make a right turn on Gilbert Street.

No injuries were reported after the Muni bus was unloaded. The taxi passenger, a middle-aged woman was taken to a nearby hospital, but "appeared to have suffered only minor injuries," according to McMenamin.

Judging by the report, it sounds like the cabbie is at fault for this one, so here's hoping Muni can sue the crap out of Yellow Cab to make up some budget shortfalls.

This is an illegal "bandit" cab, not a San Francisco taxicab
